I Love a Parade!!

I admit whole-heartedly to being a sucker for a parade. Make it a 4th of July parade, and I'm in heaven. Make it a 4th of July parade in Alameda where I get to be responsible for the entry, well, it just doesn't get any better!!

This year I've had the pleasure of chairing the Alameda Association of REALTORS® (AAoR) 4th of July parade entry and I know I have people wondering who let that happen!! I believe there are those who take a serious role in a parade; local dignitaries, any of our members of the armed services and those walking in remembrance, honor or in behalf of others. The rest of us, we owe the crowd a show!!

This year AAoR is highlighting our Live, Live, Work Alameda community outreach by showcasing some of the programs supported over the years. And how better can we draw attention to these efforts than our own Sign Rider Drill Team and Official Marching Kazoo band!! So don't miss out on the fun, Monday 10am in Alameda, I'm confident you'll hear us coming!!

And speaking of community outreach! The AAoR is supporting the Alameda Education Foundation's All Together Now benefit again this year. The main event will be held November 10, 2011 at the Alameda Historic Theater. On Sunday July 3rd, the Harbor Bay Club will be hosting the kick-off event for this benefit with a fabulous Beatles tribute from The Sun Kings. Doors open at 4pm and the show will begin at 5pm. Food and beverage provided by many of your favorites including Shay's Cafe, Aroma, Otaez, Dragon Rouge, Angela's, Jamba Juice, Pyramid Beer and R&B Cellars. You can still buy tickets online or at the door. In addition to the show, you can purchase raffle tickets for several prizes including a grand prize valued at approximately $4,200!!  Raffle tickets can also be purchased online and you do not need to be in attendance to win, but trust me, if you're around you'll want to be there!!

I wish all of you a fabulous holiday weekend filled with family, Friends, hot dogs, fried chicken, home made potato salad and your favorite beverage!  Keep it safe and sane, no fireworks over Jack London this year but click here for a list of local firework shows!
