- When my husband and I decided to go for a kayak ride out of Jack London, we thought we were just going to explore the Oakland Estuary. Little did we know, one week later we'd be putting an offer on a floating home. We spent two years upgrading our home on the water from stem to stern. In the process we realized how lucky we were to wind up in such a remarkeable community. Alameda had such an impact on me I wound up walking away from twenty years in the world of accounting and became a Realtor. Ten years later, our family is still discovering reasons why we love living in Alameda and I continue to have the greatest job ever, selling Alameda!
